Petmate®
Petmate® is one of the largest manufacturers and marketers of durable pet products in the industry. Founded in 1960 by Benjamin Doskocil in Arlington, Texas as a manufacturer of wooden pet carriers, the company began making plastic kennels in 1973. In 1986 sales surpassed $50 million and the company launched the Petmate Brand.
Petmate continued to grow, adding feeding products, litter products, and pet shelters. In 2006 Petmate acquired Aspen Pet Products and instantly became a leader in the collars/leads, and pet toys categories.
Licensing is an important marketing tool for Petmate, with the broad Arm & Hammer partnership, the renown American Kennel Club line, along with ASPCA and Cat Fanciers Association partnerships.
